A professional five-camera video shoot recorded our show tonight at the Komorni Klub in Ostrava. What a thrill! It was the twelfth night of our tour, our music was well rehearsed, and we were ready as a band to have fun for the cameras. Friends and family were in the audience and our hosts and technical team were excited.
During sound check, I fell in love with a blonde and a beverage. My two new loves are pictured below. Zdenicka and Becherovka are both bold and heart-warming. Imagine you had a wild and crazy aunt, full of love and a passion for life and you will know Zdnecka. After ironing the band’s shirts (gotta look sharp for video) she prepared drinks and snacks, passed out hugs, and made us laugh. I sipped Becherovka, an herbal bitters, to settle my stomach and clear my throat. The drink became my favorite pre-concert beverage. I hope I can find it in NYC.
Our concert was a success, the band played beautifully and we had great energy on stage. The audience brought us back twice for encores! One of my favorite moments of the night was having Roman’s parents in the audience. Roman’s father is a drummer and gave us a taste of his own style while everyone packed up the gear after the gig.
The next morning, Zdenicka handed me a small box with silver hoop earrings inside – a gift to remember her by. I wish I could have told her in Czech that I will cherish the gift but would not need it to remember her. She is beautifully unforgettable.
I am eager to see and hear the video from our night at Komorni Klub. After it is complete, the video will be available for download at www.ikoncert.eu. Fingers crossed that the video captures what I felt from stage – the exciting exchange of energy between performer and audience and a fabulous evening of music.
